Tamil Nadu Congress and VCK Coordinate Southern Participation in Delhi Rally

The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) are organising participation from their respective party networks for the INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally in New Delhi. The demonstration at Ramlila Maidan is part of the opposition alliance’s campaign over alleged electoral-roll irregularities and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

Party leaders in Tamil Nadu are coordinating with district-level organisations to bring workers to the national capital. The mobilisation is intended to add a southern-state presence to the opposition’s planned gathering.

Congress Units Prepare to Send Workers

Mayiladuthurai MP R. Sudha said Congress members were responding to Rahul Gandhi’s appeal and preparations were underway across the state. She indicated that the party expected at least 100 workers from each district, alongside representatives from Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and other organisational wings.

The effort forms part of a wider Congress mobilisation to bring supporters from different states to Delhi.

VCK Plans Participation Across Five States

VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan has also announced that party cadres from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka would attend the programme.

The planned participation across five southern states reflects the alliance’s effort to coordinate the demonstration beyond individual state units. The scale of attendance will depend on the preparations being made by the organisations.

Protest Focuses on SIR and Electoral Transparency

The November 1 rally is centred on opposition allegations about voter-list revisions and the deletion of names during the SIR exercise. Congress and its alliance partners have questioned the Election Commission’s handling of the process and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The Election Commission has said the revision is meant to improve electoral-roll accuracy by identifying duplicate and ineligible entries. Opposition parties, however, have called for greater transparency and safeguards to ensure eligible voters are not excluded.

Rahul Gandhi has invited citizens, students, youth groups and political organisations to join the ‘Chalo Dilli’ march. The gathering at Ramlila Maidan is expected to bring together opposition leaders and workers from several states, with participation from Tamil Nadu and other southern regions drawing attention.
