Rahul Gandhi Calls on Students and Citizens to Join INDIA Bloc’s Delhi March

Rahul Gandhi has appealed to citizens, students and young people to join the INDIA bloc’s planned march at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1. In a social-media video shared on October 29, the Congress leader described the demonstration as an effort to protect democracy and the Constitution.

Gandhi referred to the event as the ‘Chalo Dilli Ramlila March’ and said it was not intended to represent just one political party. He urged people concerned about voting rights and constitutional protections to take part.

Appeal for Broad Participation

Gandhi specifically invited student organisations, including those outside the Congress, to participate. He said the demonstration would raise concerns over alleged vote theft and electoral irregularities, and urged participants not to be discouraged by the possibility of police action.

The march is being organised by opposition parties under the INDIA bloc. The programme is scheduled to culminate at Ramlila Maidan, where a public rally is planned.

Congress leaders have been mobilising party workers and supporters from different states. They have also raised concerns about possible barriers to participation, including transport-related issues.

Electoral Roll Revision at the Centre of Protest

The demonstration focuses on opposition allegations regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the deletion of voters’ names. Congress leaders have questioned the Election Commission’s handling of the process and called for answers about the revision exercise.

The BJP and the Election Commission have faced criticism from opposition parties over these claims. The allegations remain part of an ongoing political dispute.

March Follows a Separate CEC Programme

The November 1 gathering follows a symbolic public programme concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The INDIA bloc had planned that event for October 30 but postponed it to October 31 because of heavy rain in the capital. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar is expected to preside.

With Gandhi’s appeal and preparations underway across opposition groups, the Ramlila Maidan event is expected to become a major moment in the alliance’s campaign on electoral transparency and voting rights.
