Artificial intelligence is changing how small businesses produce advertising material. Graphic designer Danny Williams says he is receiving fewer commissions as companies use AI tools to create posters, social-media graphics and promotional campaigns themselves.
For businesses under financial pressure, AI offers speed and lower costs. A company can generate a visual in minutes instead of hiring a designer for every campaign. That convenience is especially attractive when marketing needs are frequent and budgets are limited.
The shift is creating a challenge for professional designers. AI-generated work can be useful, but repeated prompts can also produce similar-looking images. Williams expects demand for distinctive human creativity may return as audiences become more familiar with automated visuals.
Advertising professionals have also stressed the need for human oversight. AI-generated material still needs to be accurate, ethical and compliant with industry rules.
The debate is moving beyond whether AI will replace designers. The more immediate question is how creative professionals will adapt, demonstrate originality and combine technical tools with judgement, storytelling and brand understanding.
