Telangana Minister for Labour and Training, Vivek Venkataswamy, on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) highlighted the state government’s key initiatives in the education sector aimed at strengthening government schools and improving skill and employment opportunities for students.
Speaking during a programme in the state, the minister detailed several measures under the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Venkataswamy referred to the breakfast scheme he inaugurated in Medak district the previous day. He noted that students had responded positively to the quality of food provided.
“Nearly 20 lakh students across the state are going to benefit from this midday meal scheme,” he said.
The government has expanded the programme to include breakfast and milk for government school students up to Class 12, with an allocation of ₹927 crore. The minister emphasised that the scheme is expected to increase enrolment in government schools.
Highlighting faculty strengthening, Venkataswamy said the government recognised the need for adequate teaching staff soon after coming to power.
“Congress government already realised the need for having faculty. So, we have recruited 10,000 teachers as soon as the Congress party came to power,” he stated.
Over 80,000 students have been added to government schools recently, with further infrastructure upgrades underway.
