Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro Launched With Android, AI Features and Anti-Glare Display

Amazon has introduced the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro alongside two smaller models, the Alexa Tablet 11 and Alexa Tablet 8. The new lineup marks a shift from the company’s budget-focused Fire tablets towards premium devices with Android, Google Play Store access and built-in Alexa+ artificial intelligence.

Amazon Alexa Tablet 12 Pro Price and Availability

The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro starts at $499.99 in the US for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The version featuring a Nanomatte anti-glare display starts at $549.99. The Pro Keyboard and Pro Pen are sold separately for $149.99 and $89.99, respectively.

The tablets are scheduled to begin shipping in North America on October 14, 2026, with European availability following from October 19. An India launch date and local pricing have not been announced.

Display Designed for Reading and Work

The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro features a 12-inch display with 2.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 3:2 aspect ratio. Buyers can choose a standard screen or a Nanomatte version designed to reduce reflections in bright environments.

The display option could appeal to readers, students and professionals who regularly use tablets for documents, browsing and extended reading sessions.

Processor, Cameras and Battery Life

The tablet is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8400 processor. It includes a 13-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity and four Dolby Atmos-compatible speakers.

Amazon claims up to 16 hours of video playback. Actual battery life will depend on screen brightness, applications and usage patterns.

Alexa+ Brings AI Features to the Tablet

Alexa+ is integrated throughout the new tablet experience. Users can interact with the assistant, ask questions and access contextual help. Optional on-screen intelligence can use screen content to provide more relevant assistance, while visual features can help identify objects and support shopping tasks.

Some advanced features require user permission, giving users control over whether the assistant can access on-screen information.

Android and Google Play Store Support

One of the biggest changes is the move to Android with full Google Play Store access. This gives users access to a wider selection of apps, including Google services, alongside Amazon offerings such as Kindle, Prime Video, Audible and Amazon Music.

The change addresses a longstanding limitation of Fire tablets, whose app selection was more restricted than that of mainstream Android devices.

Keyboard and Stylus for Productivity

The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro supports a magnetic keyboard and a USI 2.0-compatible Pro Pen. The stylus includes pressure sensitivity and tilt detection, making it suitable for handwriting, annotations and drawing.

These accessories could make the tablet more useful for note-taking, document work and other productivity tasks, although they add to the overall purchase cost.

What the New Tablet Means for Amazon

With its premium construction, expanded app ecosystem and AI-powered assistant, the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro signals a more ambitious approach to Amazon’s tablet business. It will compete with devices from established tablet makers by combining entertainment and productivity features with Alexa+.

For Indian buyers, the key factors to watch will be local availability, pricing and whether the new features justify the cost compared with competing Android tablets.
