A section of highway in Malaysia recently looked as though it had been covered by snow, but the unusual white scene had a much more ordinary explanation.
Videos showed thick foam spread across several lanes of the Shah Alam Expressway, creating a strange sight for motorists. Because Malaysia has a tropical climate, the apparent “snow” immediately attracted attention online.
Social media users responded with jokes and theories, with some comparing the scene to a movie and others wondering whether laundry had somehow been involved.
Police later explained the mystery. According to Shah Alam district police, soap residue from a lorry spill near the Kota Kemuning interchange had remained on the road. Rain subsequently activated the residue, producing the large amount of white foam seen across the highway.
The incident transformed a viral curiosity into a road-safety reminder. A spill that might appear harmless can become a hazard when rain and traffic are added to the situation.
For a short time, the highway looked like a winter landscape. In reality, the strange spectacle was created by a combination of soap residue, rain and a busy road.
