Drishyam 3 Director Rules Out Part 4 Despite ₹500 Crore Box Office Success

Abhishek Pathak Confirms the Franchise’s Ending

Director Abhishek Pathak has ruled out plans for a fourth instalment of the Hindi Drishyam franchise, even as its latest film continues to perform strongly at the box office. Titled Drishyam: The Conclusion, the third film is intended to bring Vijay Salgaonkar’s story to a definitive end.

Pathak believes the franchise should conclude when the story has reached its natural destination rather than continue simply because audiences want more.

Drishyam: The Conclusion Crosses ₹500 Crore

Starring Ajay Devgn, the crime thriller has crossed the ₹500-crore mark in worldwide box office collections, according to trade figures reported on October 14, 2026. The milestone marks a major commercial achievement for the actor.

The film opened in theatres on October 2 and has drawn audiences with its suspense-driven narrative and the return of familiar characters.

Why There May Not Be a Drishyam 4

Pathak has explained that another sequel would require a compelling story rather than simply extending the franchise. In his view, the third film provides a fitting conclusion to the Hindi version.

The director has described the ending as poetic and said the creative team wants to give the characters and audience a sense of closure. For now, there are no plans to continue the Hindi storyline with a fourth film.

Ajay Devgn’s Comment Keeps Fans Guessing

Ajay Devgn has also indicated that the third film marks the end of the franchise, but his addition of the words “for now” has fuelled speculation among fans.

Although the remark leaves room for interpretation, it does not confirm that another film is being planned. The director’s position remains that the Hindi story has reached its conclusion.

A Different Direction From the Malayalam Franchise

The Hindi Drishyam films follow a separate narrative from the Malayalam franchise led by Mohanlal. Both versions share the central premise of a family caught in a tense investigation, but their stories have developed along different paths.

The distinction allows the two film series to reach their own conclusions without necessarily following identical storylines.

A Star-Studded Cast

Alongside Ajay Devgn, Drishyam: The Conclusion features Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor and Ishita Dutta. Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj are among the additions to the cast, bringing new characters into Vijay Salgaonkar’s world.

The film’s commercial performance has strengthened the franchise’s place in Hindi cinema, even as its makers maintain that the story is complete.

Will the Franchise Return in the Future?

For now, fans should treat the possibility of Drishyam 4 as speculation rather than a confirmed project. Pathak has made clear that he does not want to stretch the Hindi franchise beyond what its story requires.

With Drishyam: The Conclusion delivering both a major box office milestone and an intended narrative resolution, the filmmakers appear ready to let Vijay Salgaonkar’s story stand on its own.
