Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has shared an unusual story from his younger days, recalling strange incidents in his bedroom at Mumbai’s Galaxy Apartments. During an appearance on Koffee With Karan Season 9, the actor told host Karan Johar that lights would flicker, cupboards would open unexpectedly and music would sometimes start playing on its own.
The conversation offered a glimpse into an unexpected chapter of the actor’s personal life, mixing an eerie anecdote with his characteristic humour.
1. Karan Johar Remembers His First Visit
The discussion began when Karan Johar recalled visiting Salman Khan’s home in 1998, during the filming of Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai. Karan was surprised by the actor’s modest bedroom, which reportedly contained little more than a bed and a cupboard.
Salman lived with his parents, Salim Khan and Salma Khan, and his brothers, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan. The memory prompted Salman to share why he had rarely stayed alone in that room.
2. Lights Flickered and Cupboards Opened
Salman said he often sensed an unexplained presence in the bedroom, even though he had never seen anyone. According to the actor, the lights would flicker when he left the room, cupboards would open unexpectedly and the music system would sometimes switch on by itself.
He also recalled feeling as though someone was moving around outside the bathroom while he was inside. These incidents led him to believe that something unusual was happening in the room.
3. The Actor Said He Could Feel a Presence
When Karan asked whether Salman believed the room was haunted, the actor clarified that he did not necessarily describe it as a haunting. Instead, he said he had felt a presence around him.
Salman explained that he sometimes played music when he sensed it and then walked out of the room. He also recalled hearing sounds from inside the bedroom while playing billiards outside.
His account was presented as a personal recollection, with no independent evidence establishing a paranormal explanation for the incidents.
4. Salman Khan Was Not Particularly Frightened
Despite the unusual experiences, Salman said he was not especially scared because nothing had harmed him. His response to the possibility of an unseen presence added a humorous twist to the conversation.
The actor joked that his only request would have been for the presence to reveal itself if it happened to be a beautiful woman. The remark brought a lighter mood to what had otherwise been an eerie story.
5. A Personal Story From the Koffee With Karan Couch
The anecdote was shared during the opening episode of Koffee With Karan Season 9, hosted by Karan Johar. The conversation moved between memories of their professional association, life at Galaxy Apartments and stories from Salman’s earlier years.
Salman made a memorable cameo as Aman in Karan’s 1998 film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji. Despite their long friendship, the two have worked together on relatively few film projects.
6. Salman Khan’s Next Film Project
On the professional front, Salman is set to appear in director Apoorva Lakhia’s Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. The film is among the actor’s upcoming projects as he continues to balance film work with television appearances.
His story about Galaxy Apartments has attracted attention for its unusual subject, offering fans a different kind of glimpse into the actor’s life beyond his screen roles.
7. An Eerie Anecdote With a Humorous Ending
Salman’s account of flickering lights, opening cupboards and music playing unexpectedly has sparked curiosity among fans. However, the actor himself stopped short of firmly labelling the experience a haunting.
The story ultimately became a mix of mystery, nostalgia and humour on the talk show. It is another example of how celebrity conversations can reveal unexpected personal memories that quickly become talking points among audiences.
