The National Highways Authority of India has moved to replace the contractor on a stalled 25.5-km Arakkonam-Kancheepuram section of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway. The unfinished Tamil Nadu package is a major obstacle to commissioning the full corridor.
Work stopped in May 2025 after the concessionaire faced financial problems. NHAI later initiated termination steps, while a separate court dispute concerned fly-ash supply. Government data showed the section was about 54 percent complete in February 2026.
A fresh EPC tender worth an estimated Rs 633.12 crore seeks a contractor to finish the balance work within 18 months, followed by five years of maintenance. The new tender offers a route to restart work, but the full expressway will remain incomplete until this critical link is delivered.
