BJP MP Kangana Ranaut challenged officials at a DISHA committee meeting in Mandi over delays in constituency projects and the use of MPLADS funds. Reports said around Rs 11 crore had been released for development works, with much of it still unspent.
Ranaut said less than Rs 1 crore had been used across the wider area by March-April and cited lower utilisation in Mandi itself. These figures were presented by the MP during the meeting and are not an independent finding of financial wrongdoing.
Officials reportedly pointed to land acquisition and approval hurdles. The exchange highlighted a familiar problem in public works: funding alone does not complete projects without land, clearances and coordination. The next test will be whether departments can set and meet clear timelines for pending work.
