Chennai / Mumbai, September 19, 2026 – The promotional campaign for Jailer 2 has officially begun, creating fresh buzz around the highly anticipated Rajinikanth starrer with the release of the first character introduction.
On September 18, producers Sun Pictures unveiled National Award-winning actor Suraj Venjaramoodu in the role of Dileep. The short character reveal video shows the actor in a stylish, intense avatar — stepping out of a car while smoking a cigar — set to Anirudh Ravichander’s background score. The makers have indicated that more character introductions will follow in the coming days.
About the Film
Jailer 2 is the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film sees superstar Rajinikanth reprise his iconic role as “Tiger” Muthuvel Pandian.
Returning cast members include Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa. The expanded ensemble features Suraj Venjaramoodu along with other notable additions such as S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna. Reports have also mentioned possible cameo appearances by actors including Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi and Mohanlal, though official confirmations on guest roles remain limited.
Music is once again composed by Anirudh Ravichander, continuing his successful collaboration with both Nelson and Rajinikanth. The technical team from the original film, including cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan and editor R. Nirmal, is largely retained.
