Andhra Pradesh to Regularise Over 28,000 Houses on Government Land in Visakhapatnam; CM Naidu to Distribute Title Deeds Today.

Visakhapatnam / Amaravati, September 19, 2026 – In a major relief to thousands of families, the Andhra Pradesh government is regularising over 28,000 houses built on government land in Visakhapatnam and conferring full ownership rights on the occupants.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to distribute house-site title deeds (pattas) to 28,445 families today at a public meeting at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds. The programme is expected to begin around 3 pm.

The regularisation covers approximately 399 acres (19,33,853 square yards) of land with an estimated market value of ₹8,874 crore. Officials describe it as the first large-scale exercise of its kind in Visakhapatnam, resolving a decades-old issue that left many poor and middle-class families without legal titles to the homes they had built and lived in for years.

Key Details

Beneficiaries are spread across 11 mandals in Visakhapatnam district, from Gajuwaka to Bheemili.

Highest numbers are in Visakhapatnam Rural (around 9,261 families), followed by Gajuwaka, Mulagada, Gopalapatnam, Pendurthi, Pedagantyada, and other areas.

The government is granting rights on “compassionate grounds” in cases where there are no legal objections.

Earlier government orders (such as GO-296, GO-388, GO-30 and others) form the basis for different categories of beneficiaries.

CM Naidu said in a statement: “The wait spanning decades is coming to an end… We are granting you rights over your homes and fulfilling the dreams of 28,445 families. Across 11 mandals, we are regularising 1,933,853 square yards of land worth ₹8,874 crore and issuing titles for house sites.”

Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad noted that the move comes at a time when many governments elsewhere are demolishing illegal constructions on government land. He confirmed that a similar regularisation drive is planned for Vijayawada, expected to benefit around 24,000 families.
