Telangana School Education Department to Hold Statewide Parent-Teacher Meetings Today

The Telangana School Education Department, in coordination with Samagra Shiksha, is conducting a statewide Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) on September 19 across government schools, local-body schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and Telangana Model Schools. The meetings are being organised across mandals and districts throughout the state.

This month’s PTM is being held under the theme “Partnering with Parents, Powering Every Child’s Learning.” Teachers and headmasters will discuss students’ academic performance, foundational learning progress, attendance and areas where additional academic support may be required.

The meetings will also focus on student absenteeism and enrolment, while parents will be encouraged to participate in school development activities and campus upkeep. Schools have been asked to make arrangements at timings convenient for parents, considering work schedules in both rural and urban areas.

Education officials at the state, district and mandal levels, including Mandal Education Officers and Regional Joint Directors, are expected to monitor the meetings. The department has also instructed schools to encourage maximum parental participation.

The statewide initiative is aimed at strengthening communication between parents, teachers and schools and creating a more collaborative approach toward students’ academic progress.

The meetings are also expected to provide an opportunity to discuss student attendance and absenteeism, particularly in cases where students have been regularly missing classes. Parents and teachers can work together to identify the reasons behind irregular attendance and encourage students to remain connected with their schools.

Apart from academic matters, the PTMs are likely to highlight the importance of school development, cleanliness, infrastructure and a supportive learning environment. Parent participation in school-related activities is being encouraged as part of the department’s efforts to improve overall educational outcomes.

Education officials at different administrative levels are expected to monitor the statewide programme and encourage schools to ensure maximum participation from parents.

The initiative reflects the department’s emphasis on creating a stronger parent-teacher-school partnership, with regular interaction seen as an important step towards improving students’ learning experiences and academic development.
