PM Modi to Inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 at Yashobhoomi: India’s Semiconductor Ecosystem Takes Centre Stage

India is set to host the fifth edition of its premier semiconductor conference and exhibition, SEMICON India 2026, at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention and Expo Centre) in Dwarka, New Delhi, from 17 to 19 September 2026.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the event on 17 September at around 10 AM and address the gathering. Notably, the date coincides with the Prime Minister’s birthday

Organised jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the global industry association SEMI, the three-day conference and exhibition carries the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.”

The event aims to showcase India’s progress across the full semiconductor and electronics value chain—from materials and equipment to chip design, fabrication, advanced packaging, and complete systems. A highlight will be the new “Sand to Silicon to Systems” Value Chain Experience, which will walk visitors through the entire journey of semiconductor manufacturing.

The event comes at a pivotal time for India’s semiconductor ambitions. The government has expanded support through Semicon 2.0 (approved with an outlay of ₹1,27,500 crore), which strengthens six pillars: chip design, equipment and materials, fabrication, advanced packaging (ATMP/OSAT), research & development, and talent development.

Multiple projects with combined investments exceeding ₹1.64 lakh crore have been approved across states, and several facilities have already entered commercial production. SEMICON India 2026 provides a platform for global and Indian companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, startups, academia, and students to engage, form partnerships, and accelerate the next phase of growth.

As every modern device depends on semiconductors, building a resilient domestic ecosystem is critical for economic growth, technological sovereignty, and participation in global supply chains. SEMICON India 2026 positions India not just as a design destination but as a comprehensive player—from silicon to complete systems.

The three-day programme will combine high-level policy discussions, industry roundtables, technology showcases, and talent initiatives, making it one of the most significant semiconductor gatherings in the region.
