India’s women’s hockey team has created history at the 2026 Asian Games, ending a long 44-year wait for the gold medal. India defeated defending champions China 1–0 in the final, reclaiming the Asian Games women’s hockey title for the first time since 1982.

China pushed hard for an equaliser, but India’s defence stood firm throughout the contest.
