Advocate Nikhil Saraf has received temporary protection from demolition action involving his farmhouse in Mohali after approaching the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The state government told the court that no action would be taken until September 11 while the dispute continues.
Saraf has also filed a public interest litigation seeking a CBI investigation into allegations referenced in an Enforcement Directorate communication concerning transfers, postings, tenders and official dealings in Punjab. Those allegations remain subject to legal scrutiny and have not been proven by a court.
The case has added to political pressure around the Punjab government, but the court has not concluded that the demolition process was connected to Saraf’s petition. The next stage will depend on the government’s response and the High Court’s view on whether a CBI inquiry is warranted.
