The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two more accused in connection with the June 2024 armed ambush on the convoy of former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. The latest arrests were reported on September 29, 2026, as part of the continuing investigation into the attack.
The incident took place on June 10, 2024, along National Highway-37 in Kangpokpi district, Manipur. According to the reported investigation, two security personnel were injured and government vehicles were damaged during the attack.
The NIA investigation is continuing to establish the alleged roles of those arrested and identify other persons connected to the case.

The case was initially registered at New Keithelmanbi Police Station before the NIA took over the investigation and re-registered it on July 11, 2024 as RC-11/2024/NIA/IMP. According to the NIA’s investigation, the two newly arrested accused allegedly had roles in planning and facilitating the ambush and had links with other accused persons.
Both accused had previously been arrested by the NIA in a separate case. They were produced before the Special Court for NIA cases in Thoubal, which remanded them to eight days of police custody.
The agency said further investigation is underway to determine their specific roles, establish their alleged links with others and identify additional persons involved in the case.
The accused have been identified as Jangminlun Singson alias Franky, 44, and Thangjoel Haokip alias Thangboi, 21. Both are from Churachandpur district and were produced before the Special NIA Court in Thoubal. The court remanded them to eight days of police custody.
