The political battle between the ruling Congress government and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana has intensified over land surrounding former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s Erravelli farmhouse. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered an inquiry into the land parcels located around the farmhouse, directing officials to examine ownership records and determine whether any government land is involved.
The issue came up during the Telangana Assembly debate on land listed under Section 22-A of the Registration Act. According to reports, Revanth Reddy said officials should conduct a detailed examination of the lands around the Erravelli property and establish the actual extent and ownership of the parcels.
Reports indicate that the government is examining claims concerning nearly 700 acres of land surrounding the farmhouse. Revanth Reddy alleged in the Assembly that about 388 acres of government-assigned land was connected to the farmhouse area. These figures and allegations are part of the political dispute and are expected to be examined through official records and the inquiry process.
The Chief Minister has also stated that government land found to be under unauthorised control would be recovered according to law. He said such land could subsequently be used for the benefit of eligible poor and marginalised people, including Dalit families.
The proposed fact-finding exercise is expected to focus on revenue records, ownership documents, survey details and the status of land parcels around the farmhouse. Officials will need to determine the boundaries of the property and verify whether the land classifications recorded in government documents correspond with the present ground situation.
Reports also indicate that the government has given officials a time-bound framework to establish the facts concerning the Erravelli lands. A report by September 16 said Revanth Reddy wanted the matter examined comprehensively, while other reports put the deadline for the inquiry at 30 days.

During his Assembly speech, Revanth Reddy made several allegations concerning landholdings linked to KCR’s family and associates. One report said he alleged that members of KCR’s family and relatives held around 439 acres across nine districts, 24 mandals and 31 villages. The Chief Minister also raised broader allegations concerning land transactions during the previous BRS government. The claims have become part of the wider political confrontation over prohibited properties, land records and the implementation of the Dharani land-record system.
The controversy has not remained one-sided. BRS leaders have rejected the political narrative advanced by the Congress government and have raised counter-allegations concerning landholdings associated with the Revanth Reddy family. BRS floor leader T. Harish Rao reportedly alleged that the Reddy family collectively owned around 308 acres. The competing claims have added another layer to the Telangana political dispute. The outcome of the official inquiry and verification of government records will therefore be closely watched by both political parties.
The Erravelli farmhouse controversy comes amid a broader political confrontation between the Congress government and the BRS over land records, Section 22-A properties and alleged irregularities from the previous administration.
For now, the key focus is on the fact-finding process. The inspection and examination of official land records are expected to determine the actual ownership, classification and extent of the disputed properties. Until the inquiry is completed, allegations made by either political side remain claims that require verification through official findings.
The Erravelli farmhouse land issue is therefore likely to remain a major talking point in Telangana politics, particularly as the government proceeds with its examination of land records and the BRS challenges the allegations made against its leadership.
