The Supreme Court has sought responses from the Centre and State governments on a petition calling for a dedicated and time-bound mechanism to investigate cases involving examination paper leaks.
A Bench headed by Justice P.S. Narasimha issued notices on the petition filed by advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay. The plea seeks the creation of a standard set of questions and a specialised investigation procedure so that paper-leak cases can be investigated more efficiently and brought to trial without unnecessary delays.
Plea Seeks Special Investigation Framework
The petitioner has argued for a uniform approach to handling paper-leak allegations, with the aim of ensuring that investigations are completed within a defined timeframe and that trials proceed quickly.
The proposed mechanism is intended to strengthen the response to examination-related fraud and prevent lengthy legal proceedings from delaying justice.
Property Assessment of Accused Also Sought
The petition has also requested authorities to assess the complete property holdings of people allegedly involved in paper-leak cases, including assets connected with their family members.
The Supreme Court’s notice seeks the governments’ responses to the demands raised in the petition. The case could potentially bring greater attention to how examination paper leaks are investigated and prosecuted across the country.
