Flipkart Creates Over 2.5 Lakh Festive-Season Jobs, With 60% in Last-Mile Delivery.

E-commerce major Flipkart has announced the creation of more than 2.5 lakh (250,000) direct and indirect employment opportunities, including gig roles, ahead of the upcoming festive season in 2026.

Nearly 75,000 of these positions — close to 30% of the total — are expected to go to first-time entrants into the workforce, opening pathways into formal employment across communities in India.

The opportunities span more than 7,000 Ekart facilities nationwide, covering fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery operations. Last-mile delivery accounts for about 60% of the new roles, translating to nearly 1.4 lakh additional opportunities. To support this expansion, Flipkart is adding over 900 new festive delivery hubs.

The hiring drive is driven by rising customer demand ahead of Big Billion Days, growth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, and the scaling of Flipkart’s quick-commerce service, Flipkart Minutes. Women now represent more than 20% of Flipkart’s supply chain workforce, and participation by persons with disabilities has also increased across warehouse and delivery operations.

Flipkart’s Supply Chain Operations Academy has issued nearly 10,000 certifications ahead of the festive season through partnerships with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, NCVET, and ITI Kalyani.

Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President, Supply Chain, Customer Experience and Re-Commerce at Flipkart Group, said: “This year, we are expanding our fulfilment and last-mile network significantly to meet rising customer demand, while creating employment opportunities across the country. The addition of over 900 festive delivery hubs and nearly 1.4 lakh last-mile opportunities reflects the scale at which the network is growing.”

Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart Group, noted that commerce at scale creates opportunity at scale across jobs, livelihoods, and entrepreneurship.

This seasonal expansion underscores the e-commerce sector’s growing role in generating employment, particularly in logistics and last-mile delivery, as India prepares for the peak festive shopping period.
