The All India Students’ Association (AISA) has announced a state-wide ‘GEN-Z Mahajutan Yatra’ in Uttar Pradesh, with plans to bring students and young people together around concerns related to education, competitive examinations and employment.
The campaign is part of AISA’s broader ‘GenZ Rising’ initiative and is being presented as an effort to take the momentum of recent student demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to different parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Yatra to Begin in Prayagraj
According to the announced schedule, the campaign will begin in Prayagraj on September 9. It will then move through Rae Bareli, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Lucknow and Meerut.
The planned schedule is:
- September 9: Prayagraj
- September 10: Rae Bareli
- September 12: Varanasi
- September 13: Azamgarh
- September 14: Gorakhpur
- September 17: Lucknow
- September 18: Meerut
AISA Leaders to Lead Campaign
AISA national president Neha Bora and Uttar Pradesh state chief Manish are expected to lead the yatra. Leaders from the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union are also scheduled to participate at selected locations.
The organisers said the campaign will focus on issues affecting students and young people, including education reforms, entrance examination policies, employment opportunities and concerns over the fairness of competitive examinations.
Paper-Leak and Exam Concerns
The announcement comes against the backdrop of recent student protests in Uttar Pradesh over alleged examination irregularities and paper leaks.
According to AISA, students had gathered at Lucknow’s Eco Garden on June 12 to raise concerns over examination-related issues. Similar demonstrations were reported in several districts, including Prayagraj, Lucknow, Jhansi and Saharanpur, on July 25.
The organisation says the new yatra will provide a platform for students to raise these concerns directly across different parts of the state.
Campaign Seeks Wider Youth Participation
AISA secretary Prasenjit Kumar described the proposed campaign as an attempt to extend the recent Jantar Mantar student movement into Uttar Pradesh.
The organisation’s wider GenZ Rising campaign has been aimed at mobilising students and young people around education, unemployment and examination policies. The Uttar Pradesh yatra is expected to expand that outreach at the state level.
With the campaign scheduled to cover several major cities, the proposed yatra is likely to bring renewed attention to the concerns of students and job aspirants in Uttar Pradesh.
